Museum at the Jerolaman-Long Home

Hours: Tuesday–Saturday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Closed Sundays, Mondays and holidays.
January: By appointment only

Twenty rooms showcase thousands of artifacts from Cass County’s past including paintings by noted local artists — among them, George Winter and Wils Berry — personal belongings of Gen. John Tipton, military uniforms and equipment dating back to the early 1800s, Native American artifacts, and much more.

A two-story log cabin was painstakingly disassembled and reconstructed next to the museum in 1974. It was originally built near Galveston, Ind., around 1863.

The Cass County Historical Society was organized at a meeting of the Citizens Club in Library Hall, Feb. 12, 1907. The Jerolaman-Long home, our present location, was built for Dr. George Jerolaman in 1853 by George Bevan.

The historical society also owns a touring car that was built by the ReVere Motor Company, which operated in Logansport from 1917 to 1926. We continue to add to our collections as new items are donated and cataloged for future generations to enjoy.

The Barbara Schull Wolfe Research Library is located at 317 11th St. in the Downey–Anderson House, behind the log cabin on the museum grounds. All documents and photographs in our collection are housed in the research library, which also serves as a genealogical research center and staging area for new displays.
